Depends entirely upon how familiar you are with what you're trying to create.    If you've never made game before, then it's probably best to dial everything back and start with something much simpler.    While a Pong clone might not be most elegant thing to start on, if you're new to this, then it'll most certainly present a few challenges.  Same goes for the majority of retro (8bit/16bit) games.   It's great practice.

If you're written games before and are familiar with the type of game you have to mind (ie. how it works/ whats required),  but are new to PlayBasic, then it's still worth knocking up a few 'tester' projects/examples prior to starting upon a bigger quest.   So you can familiarize yourself with PB.
