well the dogs had a great day. was that your mum in the chair?

how many dogs were yours? it's good to see them playing together too. i can't do this with my jack russell, as he attacks every animal he can get to. i can't let him off the lead unfortunately.

the grass in the park is very dry. nice big area though.

 We just have Ava which is the mid sized kelpie cross (Whipet/Gray Hound or something) , otherwise known as batdog pictured bellow.  She's the smaller one playing with the bigger dogs generally.

 Narla is the German Sheppard and Zeus (not much footage of him) is the large dear hound.    We're only been going for about 5/6 weeks, since we've only had Ava for 9ish weeks  now.   She's pretty social but likes to play RUFF :)   Her brother was the same and two of them together at the dog shelter were a bit of a trip..  We actually passed on her initially and were going to get a pointer called Milo, but she turned out to be nuts.

   Yeah, sadly they can be hand full,  my sister has a couple and we used to have one called Bruce  (after the movie They call me bruce).    My sisters can't really go anywhere either as they younger one tends to be a nuts around other dogs.    We haven't taken Ava to meet them yet, but Emma (the staghound cross) was scarred of them.  Even she could have chopped them in a single bite.

   Yeah for March/April it's pretty dry here, we had a little bit of rain last week and now they're saying a week of mid 20's before some rain again.  This dog park is just a collection of old unused cricket ovals,  some they don't even bother to cut anymore..

funny how your dog moved away from you when he got the stick for himself. "no dog or human shall have my stick..."

it's good you have a big park area that dogs can run freely. my town has 'dogs must be on a lead' area's everywhere.
i live in Sale, Victoria. we have a nice man made lake here.

  Yeah she does this a lot, in particular when we play any type of fetch.  She might return if i've pocket full treats,  but once she gets it she likes to hang onto it.  The frisbee is good fun though, we got one of those nerf dog ones with a hole in the middle, so when we does bring it back we can play tug of war with it.

  It's the same here tho, 99% of public space is on lead, but this is just one of the few exceptions.    In reality, the park is just some old cricket pitches they no longer need.   Wouldn't like to have played on them as it's terribly lumpy.

Ava's Dog Park Adventures #5 -   Horatio schools Ava  -  Now thats a stick  (2019-06-17)

Horatio (black lab) enjoys nothing more that playing fetch, but you can keep your puny sticks he would rather teach Ava how to pick up a fence post.   Now that's a stick !

   She'll only retrieve stuff when my pockets are full of treats.   Once they run dry, she likes to hold and play tug, which is prolly her favourite game really.  

   Black Hill is a nice place and fairly central in town, only down side is that there's no fencing around the back and she's a bit of wanderer sometimes.  

what have you been up to lately? hope your doing well.

    Not too much,  it's difficult to find free time when you live in a world of dementia and when you do, trying to sit and focus on anything is about the last thing in the world you want to do.  So it's frustrating.

is it yourself that suffers from dementia or a family member?

my mother used to look after dementia patients at a nursing home. some used to wander outside the facility, so they had to make the automatic doors one way only, so a nurse had to manually let you out. i didn't know this at first, so i was stuck inside madly waving at the door with patients staring at me, until a nurse came over laughing and opened the door...
