There are a lot of game jams on Itch. I discovered a very strange game jam recently:
https://itch.io/jam/abbgjam

QuoteThe idea behind this jam is to grow the community and increase knowledge and awareness around Amiga and the use of Blitz Basic and AmiBlitz to create games. This means that all submitted games must include the source code so that beginner developers will have examples to study and learn from.

Wow....I believe that Amiga is a brand of computer from 80's-90's. How many beginner developers nowadays are interested in learning to program games for different models of Amiga computers?? ???

QuoteThe winner of the "Judge's pick" get a boxed release of the game*. Published by Bitmap Soft.

Wow...really? I cannot believe. Will this company(Bitmap Soft) try to sell the box version of this game in the market? Will anyone buy it?

Though there are only 14 entries, it seems that this game jam is successful. It is because each entrant got a lot of comments and ratings.:) 8)

you can learn from other programming languages, and port them to your programming language in order to learn from them.

i did this earlier this year by porting an amiga basic language 'ray tracing' code into playbasic code (posted in the 3D section of this forum).

the amiga community is still active after all these years. i actually own an amiga 500. i loved it back in the 80's & 90's. there is an amiga emulator mini computer you can purchase today too.
there seems to be a big fan base for the older graphics and older games. there are a lot of pixel art games still active today too.
It's easy to start a program, but harder to finish it...

I think that means i am getting old and get side tracked too easy.

Okay, maybe you are right. I agree!

Wow! I see. You are an expert.

I have tried to use the tag 'amiga' to search for games. Many games! Yes, an active Amiga community exists!
