I've got an idea for a platformer game. You play as a shadow. Particularly you have been separated from your object/person by some baddy. You appear as a sort of loose collection of black/purple particles, which becomes more dense as you grow more powerful. Sorta hunched over like those smokey shadow guys from Ico (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2001/12/24). Your character can flatten himself against the back wall, or a floor. primary attacks are melee punches and ranged blobs of shadowy energy. You're weak to light and have various means of avoiding and extinguishing it. sorta like castlevania in termso of pacing, i would think. Has someone done this before?

Thanks! I'd been trying to think of an idea for a platformer character for a while, but kept drawing up concepts that have been beaten to death (humanoid animals, etc.) I've got a wee bit of something running now. Complete with MS paint graphics! but i've got a little guy who is animated when he walks and can jump and collide with the map properly. I'll probably post it when i get a little more done. Do you have any ideas that might be a cool way for such a character to interact/attack/behave?

you should consider possibly being able to play as both the guy & his shadow. maybe you could turn it into some kind of puzzle / platformer where you have to switch between them to accomplish different things (shadow could slip through tighter places or into windows or down drains or something.)

deffinatley a neat idea either way though.
