I just bought PlayBasic and as an artist I was inspired to make this..

It's not in any way 'official', butI'll probably use it or a variation in my programs to show that PlayBasic was used to create the software.
Cheers! :)
P.S. I also made a new custom icon.. (here is a .gif version for your viewing pleasure)

Yep nice. Have any other designs, primarily ones without the dolphin ?
You interested in a now logo Kevin? I could see if I can wip something up. any ideas for replacing the dolphin?

Quoteany ideas for replacing the dolphin?
Anything... :)
I've always liked the PB dolphin. 8)
Excellent logo DavidGervais.
Here Is Something I whipped up.. (sorry photobucket is down for maintenance.. I'll see if the image can be attached here.)
Cheers! :)
And here is a sample of an icon..
Cheers!
My opinion: since the app is called PlayBasic, maybe the logo should have something in that line, for example a joystick or something that instantly indicates that the language is optimized for game creation.
As much as I respect the o'reillyness of the current logo, I have to second Hugo. Besides, isn't there a book with a dolphin already? :)

Hugo,
This has been discussed a number of times (although some more in depth one's aren't visible to members) , so there's a number of threads about it spread across the forums. i.e.

The current logo simply the best of what was available at the time. We've tried on numerous occasions to get updated/replaced, without much luck.
Roger that, Kevin.
I can do it vector, but it would have to be in Macromedia (yeah, macromedia, not adobe) Fireworks format. It would be no problem. I could submit a starter and change it according to specifications until it "clicks."

Another thing I whipped up..

A lot more nice I think, but the text could be nicer.

still looks nice, however you don't think the inverted pyramid reminds you of something ?
Very impressive stuff, David!
Rather than the pyramid, maybe a torch goblet/cup kind of thing underneath the sphere would be nice I think.
To me all I see is a .x model render form a game piece of a game I was gonna try to program, but my skills are not up to this kind of challenge.. here is a sample of an Isometric sprite worksheet,..

GameSprites01.jpg (http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f237/DavidGervais/GameSprites01.jpg)
I thought Iso would be easier to program, but I got lost fast. my original idea was all 3d.. the PoV starting overhead giving the illusion of 2d, then if the player made it to level 3 the cam angle would swing to a pseudo isometric, and if the player made it to level 6+ he would be given camera controls to pan rotate, zoom etc. It's a much improved version of a QBasic 4.5 game I made way back when called Swap 'n' Go. The only way that old game can be ran now is in DosBox. I'd be glad to share it with you Kevin, if you have DosBox installed on your system.
Anyways, I always have a ton of ideas for games, but sadly lack the full programming skill to pull them off,.. when I worked with QB45, I had lots of time, that is never the case nowadays.
Anyways,.. you can say the inverted pyramid shape reminds you of DBPro, but the philosophical differences between a pyramid peak at top, and inverted peak at bottom are so immense that to say they are similar is like comparing a basketball to a planet.
Anyways, I tend to babble,, sorry, cheers! :)
