New freeware tool Tile Creation_1_1.zip
found on...
Tools Page -->> http://tilemusic.com/tools.html (http://tilemusic.com/tools.html)
A windowed screen is used.
Loads BMP,PNG,JPG images
Saves seamless tiles as BMP images.
Uses a mouse for almost all input.
You can see a seamless tile being used on my webpages as a background tiled image.
I'll be placing in more save/load image file formats soon.
Updated to v1.2
Now loads 10 + image formats.
Saves seamless tiles as BMP images. More save formats later.
hm intresting!
Looking at the screenshots it seems to work by flipping and mirroring an image to create a new image 4 times the size.
I think other tools work with some kind of "smeering" around the edges to get them seamless.
How does your algorithm work for real objects like stones, strawberries, leaves and such? Don't they look wrong?
always made my seamless tiles manual, need to take into account they must look nice being in a group.
one Seamless tile is useless, need to have a colection of them to build decent lookin world
another optiion is to buy hires merchant resource and play with it.
All software I bought or free download for that, work at leat 90% i want, last step was post work in grafix editor
anyway, we need to appreciate this work, and say thanks to author. It looks great and may help for sure
I haven't tried it on everything. I have browsed my drive this morning and found images of insects, birds, human faces and other thing that make for nice tiles.
Ii was looking for those odd image file formats in the programs image load list. I did not find much on my computer since I always use the PNG format if I can. So all formats are not tested till I can find and test some off the internet. So far if it is not on the list then it doesn't load anyway.
Bright colorful birds really make for some pretty tiles. I have made groups of tiles from one image (large(800x600 for example)images). It gives a lot of patterns to choose from without reloading to another image. I have provided you several large random images in the download file to get you started(created through Paint Shop Pro).
I know it does not do 100% of everything that people may wish. But it does make it eaiser to create tiles.
Also. It uses FreeImage.dll which only saves to PNG,JPG and BMP files.
I'm working on that part now as an update soon. I'll post it here when done and tested.
And. the update will have all image files that are tested in the load image list.
If I can't test the image format then it will not be there in the update.
And stones, strawberries, leaves and such will be like 'thaaks' said with some mirroring.
But play around with it and you will have to decide what you can do with it.
anyway.
thanks for checking it out.
Updated to v1.3
Loads from BMP GIF ICO JPG PNG and TIFF formats. I will add to this as I test the 10+ other image formats.
Saves to BMP JPG and PNG formats.
Be sure to use the entire save name when saving a tile.
An example is Tile1.png
Don't just type in Tile1 without the .png extension or it won't save the image.
I'll correct this for the next future release.
Updated to v1.4
Saves to BMP JPG and PNG formats.
Loads from
BMP,CLP,CUT,DIB,GIF,ICO,IFF,JPG,LBM,PBM,PCX,PGM,PNG,PPM,PSD,RAS,TGA,TIF,TIFF
formats.
Still 18 other image formats to test for loading.
Updated to v1.5
Corrected the image new size input bug that I didn't notice and no one else mentioned.
good new version Thanks!!!
Good to know it's being used.
Thanks ATLUS!!!
XpMe v1.2
so bugs:
1) if press menu and other press other not off menu
2) not resize tile
If I understand right.
You mean when you choose to X or Y resize and then click OK with a new value that it resizes the red box but doesn't show the resized displayed captured image with its new image size until you press the left mouse over the left capture area and move the mouse around. Then you see the new size.
I need to refresh the display for that part to show the new size just after the clicking the OK button.
Ok Thanks!
