Play Basic - Tech Demo Releases

While working on the Play Basic V1.07, we've decided to post a few tech demos as we move along.  Since the focus for PB1.07  is to add numerous improvements to the GFX engine performance and abilities,  we've posted a revised edition of the Software 3D demo (which now supports gouraud shading) and a brand new super fast sprite rotation demo.

   Super Fast Sprite Rotation Speed

The speed of sprite/image rotation is something i'd never been too happy with in previous releases,  as such, it's been the number one priority.  So i'm very pleased to announce that we've been able to improve sprite rotation performance by a staggering 9 times it's current ability..  Not only that, we've been working on adding various specific rendering modes to further embellish it.  But those aren't displayed in the tech demo however. The demo is purely about sprite rotation.

   Software 3D Render Engine

Another aspect we've been working on is including a set of polygon filling commands.  These commands give programmers the ability to render filled polygons with various fill styles. Which currently include Flat, Gouraud, Textured and Gouraud Texture blend.

So now since these have been implemented into PB natively, we've also re-issued the Software 3D Render Engine tech demo.   The performance have been staggering.

Both demos are available from the Play Basic home page (under the  Tech Demo heading).
